About our Fabrics
When you first look for golf clothing, you see that the majority of what's out there is same-same-same: a lot of polyester-based fabrics. While polyester offers performance traits and is widely used in sports apparel, it's not the most sustainable material. Also, an emphasis on super-thin fabrics minimizes the opportunity for street-right style and a more forgiving drape that so many golfers are craving.
So as part of our development process, we really wanted to explore more sustainable fabrics that also offered luxury and performance needed on the golf course. This way we could lean less on polyester. There are a lot of fabrics less harmful to the environment that also happen to be a lot more luxurious while offering innate performance sufficient enough for our golfer on the course. Here are the two primary fabrics we custom-developed to be used in our Vees core collection.
MODAL
Luxury fashion brands often blend modal into their fabrics to leverage its many properties — we worked to feature as high a percentage as we could.
-
Luxury: Offering a smooth, luxe skin feel that resists pilling, modal also offers a flattering drape that gives a lot more “coverage” than a lot of the fabrics golf apparel is made from. This also allows us to provide more street style into the garments.
-
Performance: Modal is perfect for sports apparel because its weave is super-breathable, yet really durable and strong, and resistant to shrinking in the wash. Modal is also 50% more absorbent than cotton. Its tight weave offers natural stretch, which allowed us to lay off the spandex here.
- Sustainability: Made from regenerative plants — its manufacturing process originates by spinning reconstituted cellulose from beech trees — modal is one of the more eco-friendly textiles in the viscose class: there are fewer chemicals used in its production process than with other types of viscose.

Sustainability should always be a work in progress
We believe sustainable practices should be a given facet of any business, but especially for fashion. While we work to always be increasing our sustainability in partnership with our factories, you can also do your part by choosing longer-lasting garments rather than fast-fashion, and recycling or donating your products. As we grow, we commit to continuing to explore increasingly sustainable fabrics and luxury alternatives, as well as recycled fibers. We also plan on supporting a Vees second-hand marketplace to keep the loop closed as much as we can. We’ll keep you posted.
